Morning Poem, January 26, 2017

-

Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth. . .

Last night I dreamt of music

But not the dreamy kind

Not music from another world

The songs I heard were mine

.

I knew them, every word they sang

Every guitar chord and line

The Rascals, Beatles and the Stones

It really was that fine.

.

And it took me back to sunny days

When life poured out like wine

We walked the earth like little gods

And gave no thought to time.

.

We think of heaven like a dream

Something wispy, light and high

But the meek, they say, inherit earth

The mountains, sea, and sky.

.
