After The Rain

After the rain the cool air is crystal

And the morning sky above is a marble bowl of cloud

The pavement is rinsed and glossy

And the songbirds sing of their happiness.

The houses are still asleep; their clocks tick in their halls

And only one car, no, a truck,

Moves on the slick city street.

A man could touch his dreams in this morning

He could remember what he has forgotten.
