Noonday Poem, February 12, 2015

Do you mark the time?

Or is that very question a joke to you:

an affront, an impossibility, an unthinkable thing?

Has time overwhelmed you?

Constantly rushing on

accelerating

opening every closed door

invading every private space

every moment of rest and contemplation?

The Scriptures teach that we should

number our days

that we might apply our hearts to wisdom.

Stop, time

stop long enough for me to count,

to measure, to mark.
