Noonday Poem, October 18, 2014

The Blackbirds

 

 

 

The blackbirds fall like rain from the grey sky.

They are tossed in the wind, but gather and whirl

making their own cloud.

As if at some command they stream above a great oak

and drop like filings to a giant magnet

disappearing into the branches.
