A mystic is not first concerned with his own authority or credit. He is convinced that his power is all gift. He does not dwell on and may forget his status, even in the moment that he speaks.
A mystic is vulnerable to beauty.
A mystic recognizes an idol as an idol.
A mystic knows not only that there is more to the story, he also understands that there is a moral to the story.
A mystic is not cynical, but is not reluctant to believe that conventional wisdom may be wrong.
To be a mystic is to believe that there is a purpose in circumstances.
To be a mystic is to understand that everybody is hiding something, often something big, and often from themselves.
To be a mystic is to understand that there is more hidden than is apparent.
To be a mystic means at least this: that one has spent decades relinquishing conventional hand and footholds and admitting how much he does not know.
