Midday Poem, October 13, 207

Climb the knoll to the very top

And look out over the valley

At the green river and the houses along it

The stone church and the red-brick schoolhouse

See the smoke curling grey and white from chimneys

And the labor of the deliverymen

The whisk of traffic along the roads and streets

Hear the shouts and laughter of the children at play
