Morning Poem, February 17, 2017

.

Let’s go to the country

The air’s clear and warm

The sky bright above us

No threat of a storm

.

The creeks are all melted

The fields are all brown

Let’s go to the country

Get out of the town

.

Out from behind

All these windows and doors

The sky is our ceiling

The meadows our floors

.

The deer in the forest

The hawk on the wing

Let’s go to the country

And hear the lark sing.

.

Into the morning

We’ll ride with the wind

And taste the new season

Before it begins.
