On A Winter Morning

Raise the curtain

And flood the room with winter light

It is white all around with the snow

And reminds of times lived in other rooms

And houses, long, long ago

Through the window

Watch the birds

In the winter fair

Both red and blue, they chase the wind

And disappear into the air

In only a while

The days will grow long

And the fields will be heavy with labor

Then you’ll think back to your room with a view

Where you warmed yourself over the embers
