Morning Poem #2, December 29, 2016

Wait for the sun

Don’t start your journey leaving no shadow

Look for light; it awakens the world, you know

Every creature waits for it, even the grass

And is silent, dormant

In its absence.

Its warmth is food for the soul

Feel it on your neck and back

It calms the body

And brings to mind

Every possibility you hope for

Every scene you have imagined

Go while the sun is bright

And not until then

Its rays will be wind in your sails
