Mid-day Poem, December 9, 2016

The great noise of the slow truck

That grinds along the city street

Threatening for blocks away

On it comes, pushing the air right and left

And filling it with grumblings and whines

It is as if the pavement sags with the weight of it all

And the earth beneath it, too

This truck must be a bully, a slow bully

A moving black hole

Shaking its dull fist
