We could go to Ocracoke
It’s past the season
But the water there will still be warm
You remember that day we stopped there
And let the kids out of the van
And found that one spot where the waves were perfect.
It could happen again
We can ride bikes and take long walks
Along the hard, wet sand
While the evening breeze rises off the ocean
Watch the moonlight stretch over the water
Sleep late, go to the inlet in the afternoon
And watch the line of sportfishers sail in
Maybe there is even a club in the village
Where they play our kind of music
I’ve always wanted to learn to dance.
