Night Poem, August 27, 2016

In the summer the treehouse was almost hidden

Behind the heavy foliage

The sassafras, elm and poplar

Left only a glimpse of

The beams stretching from tree to tree

And the boards nailed across

In winter all was open and clear

And the platform, exposed as it was

Held snow longer than all else around
