mid-day poem, May 29, 2016

We talk of books
He and I
While the world presses in on us
Around, like everyone else
Time, money and love
And the lack of same
All weighs
But these are never mentioned
Their effects on us in particular
We talk of books and songs and movies
And how they look and sound
And what they rouse in us
And we are thus the wiser
And thus we gain
With money, time and love
