Morning Poem, April 4, 2016

.

Before sunrise the evidence of Spring looks dull
The purple blossoms in the branches,
Purple flowers on the ground
Seem dim and distant, out of place
As if the day were yet too cold for all of them
The crow flies so slowly I wonder how it stays aloft
And those living things that are not yet renewed
The dry vines, the bare trees
Dominate.
