Afternoon Poem, January 13, 2016

Violet clouds, slender and horizontal

Lie above the ridge like resting pikefish

The forest is bare and beneath the trees

The contours of the mountain are like muscled shoulders

Under this ice-blue sky all is open and clear

And in memory summer seems

Cluttered and closed.
