Afternoon Poem, May 26, 2015

Catch this day

This sunlight and breeze

This grass and the green leaves so fine.

And roll it up tightly

And squeeze out the life

And bottle it up like wine.

Then far in deep winter

On a dark afternoon

We’ll pull out the stopper and then

We’ll pour it in glasses

And toast time gone by

And fill our plates hearty and dine.
