Driving Home From Work On A Winter Evening

The wind pushes the snow along the highway

Faster than I drive

Traffic lights rock and bounce on their wires

Even the sky looks dirty.

This little cabin is warm,

but filled with the noise of the heater fan

the shift, shift, shift of the wipers against the ice

and the tires humming against the pocked pavement.

Get home, man.  Get home.
