Morning Poem, December 15, 2014

Christmas Eve

Christmas is night

dark and silent.

The silence in the stable then

the darkness broken by a flickering torch.

The silence now in the suburban streets

the darkness broken by twinkling, electric lights

Every car stopped and in its driveway.  In its stall.

The cattle are lowing.

All is anticipation.
