An Analysis of The Creative Process or How To Write Poetry in Four Simple Steps

Sit down.

Let yourself be haunted

By the thing that will not let you go.

Sit down.

Let your heart be entered

By the thing you hoped for long ago.

Sit down.

Let your heart be broken

By the thing you knew, but cannot know.

Sit down.

Heed the voice that whispers

Softer than the sound of falling snow.

Don’t be afraid; you may touch the fire in the sky and still return to the body.
